A one-stop boutique interior design studio,
we are passionate about generous living with a smaller footprint.

Founded in 2005, Kolenik left its mark in residential, retail and hospitality design. The studio has designed bespoke furniture pieces for clients.
In parallel, Robert Kolenik established a high-end closet brand, Kolenik Cabinet. His Ocean Kitchen received international acclaim.

PERSONAL, PIONEERING, PEACEFUL AND PLEASENT

Robert Kolenik (1981) is at the helm of the Amsterdam-based interior design studio that became known for creating sophisticated, comforting environments that inspire generous living. Combining tech and innovation with sensible design gestures, Kolenik’s calming signature style emphasizes comfort over crazy and timeless over trendy. This is not to say that interiors lack guts. In contrast, Kolenik has created personalized statement spaces where technological innovation and pioneering techniques support living the good life more consciously and sustainably. This philosophy is reflected in projects around the globe — from the Cayman Islands to Ibiza and from Amsterdam to New York.

The studio’s work of excellence has been acknowledged by many awards. Yet, true recognition comes from the positive feedback of the residents and users of the spaces, who praise the designer’s capacity for staging a surprisingly warming, rich and comforting ambience — a pleasant, harmonious home. Although every project is different by nature, a keen eye for optimal spatial arrangements, a love for honest materials and pleasing colour and material combinations form a definite red thread and an undeniable part of the 7-men-strong studio’s DNA.

DESIGNED FOR CONSCIOUS LIVING

Since its inception, Kolenik has aspired to a circular design approach. Aiming to change the system from the inside out, he has gone by and far to source new ways of manufacturing furniture and introduce high-end designs with upcycled materials. With Kolenik Cabinets, a bespoke design take on luxury cabinet design, Kolenik shows that operating in the luxury design segment and taking responsible action for our climate can go hand in hand. In recent years, the studio’s focus on sustainability has evolved into creating high-end interiors with a smaller footprint.

‘I contemplate very personal, balanced spaces that last a lifetime.
Interiors that effortlessly invite us to live, work and play, using the latest technological innovation to
raise the bar of what's possible.’

MEET THE TEAM

It is said that it takes a tribe to raise a human. At Kolenik, we believe that our tribe is at the core of it all — from how we communicate, to where we stop, and what we create.

  • Robert Kolenik

    Founder

‘I’ve always been interested in our relationship with nature and how we can improve it.’ Armed with an impeccable design sensibility, curiosity for everything tech, and relentless respect for the planet, Kolenik’s founder conveys conscious design in ways that make all eco clichés redundant.

  • Giulia Michelli

    Interior Architect

Giulia studied in Udine, home to many Italian furniture design companies. A stint in residential architecture inspired the Italian architect to depart from her small mountain hometown to the Dutch flatland. Luckily, she did pack her knack for spatial composition and material explorations.

  • Leanna van Es

    Projectmanager

Our design-loving office and project manager, Leanna is praised for her profound understanding of the design process. Her interior design background, years of experience working at Dutch design company Pastoe, and strong social skills make her a valued member of our team.

  • Lucho Dobrev

    3D Artist

3D artist Lucho inhabits an essential spot in the design process. ‘I help clients visualise their dream house.’ His photorealistic renders make the ambience and layout of the future residence palpable, ensuring the final design is there to last.

  • Meggy van Rees

    Interior designer

During her interior design studies, darker colours and stronger contrasts appealed most to fashionista Maggy. ‘My understanding of luxury has evolved since then. Luxury is much more subtle; less is often more. And, working with a neutral colour palette makes details matter even more.’

  • Sanne Ubbink

    Technical drawer/Project manager
